1. If your Shuffle is connected to your Mac/PC then disconnect it, close iTunes.
2. Close ”ITunesHelper.exe” in the windows task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL).
3. Download Sharepod
4. Reconnect the iPod Shuffle and start Sharepod, you should now be able to see your iPod.
5. With Sharepod still open start iTunes.
6. Your iPod should be visible in iTunes, select options and uncheck iTunes autostart, check hard drive usage.
7. Accept changes and close iTunes, do not eject your iPod using the iTunes interface.
8. Close Sharepod and disconnect your Shuffle before you restart you Mac/PC.

Thats it your iTunes will now be able to place all your podcasts and music on your shuffle just like normal. You will no longer need Sharepod so feel free to uninstall it.

Based on the popular review site it allows users to view bar, restaurant etc ratings using their camera and the direction it is pointing.

It is released as a hidden easter egg as the feature is not yet officially supported by Apple.

Today Apple announced that more than two billion applications from its iTunes App store have been downloaded to date.

As of December 28th 2009, Apple has reported over 2 billion iPhone and iTouch applications being downloaded from their ITunes Store.  With apps in every category from music, to twitter apps to organizational apps. to health and fitness, there’s something for everyone.

There are now more than 85,000 apps available and over 125,000 developers of these apps in Apple’s iPhone Developer Program.

“The rate of App Store downloads continues to accelerate with users downloading a staggering two billion apps in just over a year, including more than half a billion apps this quarter alone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “The App Store has reinvented what you can do with a mobile handheld device and our users are clearly loving it.”

iPhone and iTouch users in 77 countries can choose from a vast range of applications with more being developed each day.  Its no wonder its so easy for that number to be reached. Its so easy to sync your player or phone to iTunes and download the app after it is purchased.

10th – Battle For Westnoth

This game is an open source version of Doom. Enjoy a jam-packed action of zombie-killing madness.

5th – Neverball

Tilt the floor to roll a ball through an obstacle course before time runs out. Neverball is part puzzle game, part action game, and entirely a test of skill.

4th – Quinn

Supporting PHP, ROR and Python this is a serious tool. Although I have only used it for basic HTML, CSS editing I found that a breeze with helpful hints and colour coding of syntax. It’s going to be around for the long run as they just secured $7.8 Million in Funding. Its 100% free and monetises via its web app hosting platform.

GIMP

An alternative to Photoshop its completely open source and has a plug-in available that converts the layout closer to Photoshop for an easy learning curve. A great way for aspiring web designers to start honing there skills.

This is just freaking cool. LiveView can send a preview of what ever you are working on straight to all the iPhone’s on your LAN. The iPhone appears on your screen so you can position it over what you want to stream 1:1.

I’m sure we will see some innovative extensions come out of this. Although designed for collaboration you could use it to keep an idea on whats happening on your mac when you are away, say for example if you were in a chat application or some work specific program that can’t run on your iPhone.

Although not very practical for sheer OMFG look at this this app takes the cake. One of the coolest features though is to keep track of who borrowed your stuff by drag and dropping into your address book.

Think

Designed to help you block out all those social networking apps and distractions, it can’t block out your girlfriend (yet) but other than that its got all the moves to help you focus on the task at hand.

A few requirements

• An up to date Mac and preferably an up to date Time Machine backup.
• Windows 7 on DVD, get it here (available until August 20,2009, although can be installed after).
• 8GB  of space although I would recommend about 25 so you have some room to play with.

Lets get stuck in

1. Restart your Mac and close any apps that automatically start.
2. Open Boot Camp Assistant via finder and click continue at the intro screen.
3. At this stage choose how much space you want to give your new OS, as mentioned above around 25GB is good, although feel free to choose more or less if you know how much you will need. Once your happy click partition.
4. Insert your Windows 7 DVD and click the option to Start Installation.
5. Once your Mac restarts you will have to select which partition to install on. Select the one named Bootcamp you don’t want to accidentally choose the wrong one so pay close attention.
6. Choose drive options and “Format” press ok when prompted.
7. Once Windows 7 has installed it will reboot and you will need to take the DVD out.
8. Your nearly done just select your language etc and finish the installation, connect to the internet and Windows will download the latest updates and a video card driver, yep after this its time for another reboot.
9. All done your ready to go, depending on you Mac hardware you may have to look at getting your sound drivers setup. Just hold option when you turn your Mac on to choose Windows 7 or OSX.
